Kyle Allen Outduels Kyler Murray, Earns Week 4 Fantasy Streamer Status

With Cam Newton out for potentially an extended amount of time, it's the Kyle Allen show in Carolina.

This isn’t the first time Kyle Allen got the best of Kyler Murray. At Texas A&M, Allen beat out the eventual Heisman Trophy winner, which led to Murray transferring to Oklahoma. The two crossed paths again in the dessert last week and Allen’s team not only got the better of Murray’s, but he also massively outperformed the No. 1 overall pick. Allen tore up the Cardinals’ hapless defense to the tune of 19-of-26 passing for 261 yards and four touchdowns — totaling 24.34 fantasy points. With Cam Newton dealing with a potential Lisfranc injury, it’s Allen’s job for the time being. He proved he can command the offense, while also putting up fantasy numbers.

What’s best is that he made all the weapons around him look much better than how they looked with Newton. Greg Olsen looked like he was at The U again, grabbing two touchdowns. Curtis Samuel was blazing all over the field and added another score. Meanwhile, DJ Moore and Christian McCaffrey both looked fantastic.

Could this have just been a product of the hideous defense that they were playing against? Maybe. But Allen’s mere presence might just be the change of scenery that these Panthers’ playmakers needed.

With the Panthers squaring off against another below-average defense in the Texans this week, Allen is our QB14, seven spots higher than the ECR.
