Nick Foles Injury Opens the Fantasy Door for a Guy Named Gardner Minshew II

Gardner Minshew took over for the injured Nick Foles and didn't look too, too bad.

Nick Foles — well known Patriot slayer, Super Bowl MVP, and architect of the Philly Special — is officially on the IR. Foles broke his left clavicle in the first quarter of Sunday’s loss to the Chiefs when all 311 pounds of Chris Jones came down on him after a 35 yard TD strike to DJ Chark Jr. that was in all likelihood the best pass anyone in a Jacksonville Jaguars uniform had made in the history of the franchise.

This injury opened the door for Gardner Minshew II who carved up the Chiefs’ defense if not like a Thanksgiving turkey at LEAST like a Labor Day Cornish game hen on 22-of-25 passing for 275 yards, 2 TDs and a pick.

So what does this mean fantasy-wise?  Well, if Nick Foles was your starting fantasy quarterback you were already in a sinking ship.  Could you plug the holes of your Swiss cheese like rowboat with the addition of Gardner Minshew?  No, you sure couldn’t.

HOWEVER… don’t totally cast aside a few of the members of the Jags’ offense just yet.  Our guy The Wolf still likes Dede Westbrook as his WR34 (+4 above the ECR) and the aforementioned DJ Chark as his WR52 (+10) so at the RSJ we still think the talent is there.  Hang on to these guys and see what plays out.  If Minshew doesn’t end up being the savior the Jaguars need, there’s still time for them to reacquire Sir Blake Bortles before the London game.
