Jamison Crowder: Vacuums 17 targets and 14 Receptions as Fantasy Centerpiece

Jamison Crowder was the definition of a target-hog and PPR monster in his Jets debut.

We told you Jamison Crowder had 100+ catch upside. Whelp, after Week One, Crowder’s on pace for exactly 224 receptions and 272 targets. Indeed, those lofty totals will come back down to Earth. Still, Crowder’s NFL-high 17 target, 14 reception day against the Bills highlights just how crucial a cog he’ll be for the Jets passing game. He will be a PPR Fantasy Monster as Adam Gase’s next Jarvis Landry.

Crowder absorbed an insane 41.4% of Sam Darnold‘s throws on Sunday. Camp reports raved that the pair “found chemistry the moment they stepped on the field together” and “see plays the exact same way, which helps them connect when things break down.” This was entirely apparent against the Bills, as Darnold routinely looked for Crowder as soon as his pocket got messy.

Granted, the 3.0 average depth of target wasn’t exactly… scintillating. Also, the team recently acquired Demaryius Thomas, increasing his competition for looks (though this could just be a backup plan for Enunwa). Still, the usage was highly reminiscent of Landry’s high-percentage, mammoth workload under Gase in which he paced the league with 112 receptions.

Entering Waivers, Crowder was shockingly owned in only 49% of leagues. This has since risen to 64%, but the slot maven should be 100% rostered.

Just note – Sam Darnold is currently dealing with mono. For however long he is out, Crowder will be bench material with Trevor Siemian tossing the rock.
