Andy Reid Wants Damien Williams to be the “Full-Time Starter for the Year”

Everyone in the Chiefs organization has endorsed Damien Williams as the clear lead-back, and he just got the most important vote of confidence yet.

This isn’t necessarily breaking news at this point of the offseason, but Damien Williams has the Chiefs invaluable starting RB role locked-down. He’s been endorsed by everyone from the Chiefs’ RBs coach, to the GM, but just received the most important vote of confidence yet: Chiefs HC Andy Reid. Notorious for riding workhorses especially in the pass-game, Reid stated that he wants late-season stud Damien Williams to be “the full-time starter for the year.” These comments only further cement our lofty No. 15 overall ranking (RB9), which is a laughable and pathetic +13 vs the ECR. When will these “experts” ever wake up?

Anyways, Williams looks to have a leg up on his competition, which features offseason addition Carlos Hyde, and a stable of backs that include Darrel Williams and three rookies in James Williams, Darwin Thompson and Marcus Marshall. We still think you should “own the backfield” by ‘cuffing Hyde to Williams, but you should be able to get Hyde at an even better price now.

Although Hyde could steal a few touchdowns on the goal line and has still shown streaks of greatness, he’s never put together a full fantasy season. Once Kareem Hunt got kicked out of Kansas City, Williams proved right away that he has a legit three-down skill-set that can produce fantasy championships. Stick his talents in an Andy Reid offense with Patrick Mahomes under center and you have a rock solid RB2 with bonafide RB1 upside. As a six week starter, Williams scored 10 TDs while averaging over 22 FPs per game — a pace that only trailed Todd Gurley.

For some strange reason, Williams is still an absolute steal at his current ADP.
