Fantasy Football Stock Report: Lamar Miller dubbed to have “season for the ages”

Every morning we compile the most important fantasy football links of the day for you to stay up-to-date and ahead of your fantasy opponents… This is your number one place for beat writer blabber, injury news, transaction tracking, and fantasy analysis from the experts who taught us a thing or two.

“More than a few people in football think he (Lamar Miller) is set for a huge season. Lead the league in rushing? That would be quite a leap, but it’s not totally unbelievable. Miller always showed great bursts of talent when in Miami, but because the Dolphins gonna Dolphin, they completely underutilized him. The Texans won’t, and I keep hearing from scouts that they think he might have a season for the ages.”

Mike Freeman – Bleacher Report

Ever since Miller landed in Houston his fantasy potential has shot up the rankings and landed him in First Round territory. Last season, Miller finished as the 5th highest scoring running back in PPR leagues with 872 yards and 8 scores. It was a step down in yards while still managing to match his 8 touchdowns from the previous season. One notable aspect was his increase in receptions and usage in the passing game. He only had 9 more receptions in his ’15 season, but tacked on an extra 122 yards through the air. Miller is destined to be a workhorse in the Texans offense after the signing of Brock Osweiler. While he does have Hopkins on the outside, Osweiler hasn’t been much of a gunslinger in the NFL, and it would make sense for Bill O’Brien to ease him into a full time starter role by pounding the rock with Miller. Miller is a RB1 lock and is creeping up draft boards as the season approaches.

The Baltimore Ravens receivers are a difficult group to analyze, but whoever comes out of that bunch to be the #1 receiver should garner a serious look in fantasy drafts. Smith Sr has shown that when he is healthy, he can put up some serious numbers as he is easily one of the most badass/toughest players in the entire NFL. With a healthy Smith Sr/Flacco combination under the direction of Marc Trestman, Smith Sr offers some quality upside in the middle/late rounds. If anything, he’ll just add more toughness to your roster. Ice up son.

Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott is back at practice and looking mighty fine in this video clip, much to the pleasure of fantasy owners and our own CJason. The hamstring injury that kept him out for a little bit was in fact just a minor blip on the radar as it’s no longer a problem. Elliott is still expected to have a huge workload this season locking him in as both an RB1 and Round 1 lock. Happy running behind that O-line Zeke, should be fun to watch.

Quick Hits:

  • Giants kicker Josh Brown was hit with a 1 game suspension for violating the league’s personal conduct policy. Very odd to see this happen to a kicker
  • Bruce Arians will rejoin his team after a recent scare saw him in the hospital. Here’s to hoping the quintessential “football guy” has a speedy recovery and good health over the season
  • The Mark Sanchez/Trevor Siemian quarterback battle is still very close, and I am still laughing
  • Reuben Randle is in serious danger of not making the Eagles 53 man roster
