Fantasy Football Stock Report: Chargers sign WR James Jones

Every morning we compile the most important fantasy football links of the day for you to stay up-to-date and ahead of your fantasy opponents… This is your number one place for beat writer blabber, injury news, transaction tracking, and fantasy analysis from the experts who taught us a thing or two.

This is big news for James Jones, as we reported yesterday that Tyrell Williams was receiving first team snaps on the outside. If the Chargers did sign anyone, they would have serious potential with pass happy Philip Rivers. Now with James Jones in the fold, Rivers has a veteran receiver on the outside and Jones’ stock if soaring up. He exploded after resigning in Green Bay to the tune of 8 touchdowns, and playing with Rivers should at least get him closer.

Sammy Watkins is just about ready to shed the walking boot and unleash himself on the Bills’ camp. He’s been in it for awhile so I’m sure he’s eager and ready to go show why he was such a high draft pick a couple years ago. Watkins has the potential to become a stud WR1 as he becomes more comfortable with his quarterback.

“(Gronkowski) has been absolutely dominant at practice, to the point that we hope it doesn’t ruin the confidence of Patrick Chung or Jordan Richards, the poor saps who have been forced to cover him.”

Ho hum, just Gronk dominating the football field per usual. Tom Brady’s favorite target/meathead is just an absolute specimen of a football player and it’s great to see news like this even if it’s only training camp. He is sure to be a big target for Jimmy Garoppolo’s first four games, but make no mistake, once Tom Brady returns Gronk will be the ultimate TE1. Gronk is worth a first round pick and offers the biggest TE advantage fantasy football has ever seen.

Not strictly fantasy:

  • Trent Richardson was waived by the Ravens. His Hall of Fame quest is looking great
  • Dwight Freeney (36 years old) will sign with the Atlanta Falcons
  • Tyrann Mathieu got PAID, making him the highest paid safety in the league
