The 2026 fantasy baseball closer rankings continue to evolve rapidly as bullpens shift roles, injuries test depth, and managers lean into matchup-based decisions more than ever. Just a few weeks into the season, we’re already seeing unexpected risers seize ninth-inning opportunities while a few established names are dealing with shaky command or reduced job security.
For fantasy managers, staying ahead of these changes is critical—not just for saves, but for protecting ratios and maximizing roster value. In this week’s rankings, we break down the current closer hierarchy, highlight emerging options, and identify situations that demand close monitoring heading into another pivotal scoring period.

2026 Fantasy Baseball Closer Rankings – The Closer Report (Week 3)
The 2026 fantasy baseball closer rankings picture is anything but settled as we head into Week 3, with several bullpens already showing signs of volatility. Committees are forming, roles are shifting, and a handful of relievers are making strong early cases to either solidify or steal ninth-inning duties. Whether you’re chasing saves, protecting ratios, or speculating on the next breakout arm, understanding these evolving situations is key. This week’s closer report dives into the most important developments across the league, giving you the insight needed to stay ahead in the ever-changing world of bullpen management.
Tier 1 – Elite 2026 Fantasy Baseball Closers

- Mason Miller, San Diego Padres
- Edwin Diaz, Los Angeles Dodgers
- Jhoan Duran, Philadelphia Phillies
Mason Miller may be the most unhittable pitcher on the planet. He has allowed just one hit in his 4.1 innings pitched, and has recorded 11 strikeouts while facing just 15 batters. Enjoy the montage, as well as the excellence.
Mason Miller has faced 637 batters in his MLB career … He's struck out 257 of them 🤯

As expected, the Dodgers have come out of the gates roaring in 2026 to a 7-2 start, with superstar closer Edwin Diaz picking up all 3 of the team’s saves. The Dodgers could win 100+ games, and I fully expect Diaz to be near or at the top of the 2026 fantasy baseball closer rankings by season’s end.
Tier 2 – High-End 2026 Fantasy Baseball Closers

- Andrés Muñoz, Seattle Mariners
- Devin Williams, New York Mets
- Cade Smith, Cleveland Guardians
- David Bednar, New York Yankees
- Trevor Megill, Milwaukee Brewers
- Aroldis Chapman, Boston Red Sox
Devin Williams looks every bit of his old self in a Mets uniform, striking out 5 over 4 scoreless innings and recording 2 saves. Few relievers in the game possess his strikeout potential, and he is as nasty as they come, making him a sure bet to rank near the top of the 2026 fantasy baseball closer rankings all season long.
There is a clear reason why we call Devin Williams the airbender🤮pic.twitter.com/yFI8rNyEtw

David Bednar seems to be slept on in the community. After being demoted in April of last year by Pittsburgh, Bednar returned to dominate the competition over the last few months of the 2025 season. Bednar was particularly dominant with the Yankees last year, posting 10 saves over 22 appearances, while recording a 2.19 ERA, 0.93 WHIP, and a 12.8 K9. As the lead stopper for arguably the best team in the American League, Bednar has a realistic chance to lead MLB in saves when all is said and done.

The biggest mover from my preseason ranks, Trevor Megill, looks to have a firm grip on the Brewers’ closing role. While Abner Uribe waits in the wings for an opportunity if Megill falters, Megill has recorded all three of the Brewers’ saves to date, while Uribe leads the team with three holds, establishing a clear pecking order at the back end of the Brewers’ bullpen.
Tier 3 – Reliable 2026 Fantasy Baseball Closers

- Jeff Hoffman, Toronto Blue Jays
- Daniel Palencia, Chicago Cubs
- Ryan Helsley, Baltimore Orioles
- Raisel Iglesias, Atlanta Braves
- Kenley Jansen, Detroit Tigers
- Ryan Walker, San Francisco Giants
- Pete Fairbanks, Miami Marlins
Jeff Hoffman looks dialed in to start the 2026 season, striking out 11 and walking 0 over 4.2IP. Armed with a nasty pitch mix and arsenal, he could rack up saves in bunches, closing the door for one of the best teams in the league.

A pair of wily veterans appear in this tier. Both Raisel Iglesias and Kenley Jansen continue to pitch at a high level past their mid-30s and show little signs of slowing up. Sure, Robert Suarez and Will Vest pose significant threats, respectively, pitching behind each closer, but these men remain kings among mere mortals, firmly holding the ninth-inning reins—for now.

Tier 4 – Reliable 2026 Fantasy Baseball Closers

- Lucas Erceg, Kansas City Royals
- Riley O’Brien, St. Louis Cardinals
- Jordan Romano, Los Angeles Angels
- Paul Sewald, Arizona Diamondbacks
I received a LOT of heat on certain forums and message boards for my extremely low ranking of the 2025 saves leader, Carlos Estévez. Fast forward a little less than 2 weeks following opening day, and Estévez allowed 6 runs in his only appearance and landed on the IL, with Lucas Erceg replacing him as the team’s top closer candidate. Erceg has 3 saves already this season and appears to be the favorite moving forward at the back end of the Royals bullpen. Erceg previously handled the role sporadically throughout his tenure with Kansas City, so he should be more than capable of providing solid value for the remainder of the season.
Carlos Estévez is heading to the 15-day IL. Left foot contusion. And will also get some time to work on delivery/velocity issues.

Steven Cruz recalled from Triple-A.
Is Jordan Romano BACK?!?!? Just 3 years ago, Romano recorded 36 saves with a 2.90 ERA and 11.0 K9, and is no stranger to the role, recording 116 saves over his 8-year career. He could be a sleeper name that appears at the top of the 2026 fantasy baseball closer rankings at season’s end.
Jordan Romano closes it out for the Angels to begin what could be a 2026 redemption season.

All the ingredients are there for him to be great, so hopefully he can put it all together this year and get back to being his elite self. pic.twitter.com/9hcpateudF
Tier 5 – Volatile 2026 Fantasy Baseball Closers

- Dennis Santana, Pittsburgh Pirates
- Clayton Beeter, Washington Nationals
- Seranthony Domínguez, Chicago White Sox
- Bryan Baker, Tampa Bay Rays
- Emilio Pagán, Cincinnati Reds
- Bryan Abreu, Houston Astros
- Mark Leiter Jr., Athletics
- Jakob Junis, Texas Rangers
- Cole Sands, Minnesota Twins
- Victor Vodnik, Colorado Rockies
Pirates Manager Don Kelly indicated in the preseason that Dennis Santana may not be the full time closer, and he has stuck to his word to date. Santana has 2 holds and has yet to record a save, while lefty Gregory Soto has 1 save while also striking out 12 over 6.1IP and looks to be an excellent addition where available on the waiver wire. Given that Santana is a righty, I would still ever so slightly favor him, but this is a situation worth monitoring.
One of my favorite preseason targets, Griffin Jax, has had a horrific start to his tenure with the Tampa Bay Rays, allowing a whopping 5 runs over 4 innings pitched (11.25 ERA) and blowing 2 saves. That has opened the door for Bryan Baker, who has allowed just one baserunner over his 4 innings pitched and has converted his only save opportunity. Baker looks to be the Rays’ preferred choice at this time, and should continue to do so until Jax rights the ship.
Although tied for the league-lead with 4 saves, Emilio Pagán has an unsightly 7.11 ERA over 6.1 innings pitched. If you play with him, you play with fire.

While Josh Hader slowly progresses toward a return, Bryan Abreu has been unable to capitalize on his opportunity to lock down the Astros’ closer’s role. Abreu sports a 3.38 WHIP and 23.63 ERA (7 ER) over 2.2 innings pitched. While he could still be the lead man at the back of Houston’s bullpen, a shift to fellow Bryan, Bryan King, would not be out of the question.

Final Thoughts on 2026 Fantasy Baseball Closer Rankings (Week 3)
The 2026 fantasy baseball closer rankings remain fluid as we move deeper into April, with bullpen roles continuing to take shape across the league. While a few teams have already established reliable ninth-inning options, many situations are still in flux, making it essential for fantasy managers to stay alert and adaptable. Targeting emerging arms, handcuffing unstable situations, and reacting quickly to role changes can provide a significant advantage in the saves category.
As always, consistency and opportunity are key when evaluating relievers, and those who stay ahead of the latest trends will be best positioned for long-term success. Keep monitoring these 2026 fantasy baseball closer rankings each week as we track the latest developments and help you navigate the ever-changing bullpen landscape.
