2025 NFL TRAINING CAMP NEWS (8/6)
TETAIROA MCMILLAN IS A “STANDOUT PERFORMER” AT PANTHERS CAMP

Tetairoa McMillan is turning heads in his first NFL training camp, and it’s looking more and more like the Panthers may have struck gold with their No. 8 overall pick.
ESPN’s David Newton labeled McMillan the “standout performer” of camp, noting his consistent chemistry with Bryce Young, and most recently in joint practices against the Browns. On a day when the Panthers offense struggled, it was McMillan who bailed them out multiple times with challenging downfield grabs.
HC Dave Canales praised the early connection between his rookie wideout and the former No. 1 overall pick, saying, “Bryce has been giving T-Mac a lot of opportunities.” So far, McMillan is making the most of them.
Spoke to someone with the #Panthers about rookie WR Tetairoa McMillan and the early returns have been glowing.

“He’s been even better than advertised — smooth, explosive, and already gaining trust from the QBs. You can’t take your eyes off him at practice because he’s making so… pic.twitter.com/gX6H4ud69J
Despite being drafted to a team that finished last in offense in 2024, McMillan already looks like the best weapon Young has had since arriving in Carolina. Tet’s currently flying under the radar in fantasy drafts with an ADP of WR29, but that could change quickly if he establishes himself as the Panthers’ go-to target.
With his combination of size, ball skills, and YAC, McMillan has the tools to push for WR2 production in Year 1, especially in an offense desperate for playmakers. He’s an ideal late-round stash with breakout upside.
JORDAN LOVE: MATTHEW GOLDEN IS “GONNA BE A STUD”
Matthew Golden is already early making waves, and the buzz is only getting louder. On a podcast with Kevin Clark, Jordan Love couldn’t help but gush over the rookie, calling him “polished,” praising his “strong hands” and “smooth” route running, and declaring, “He’s gonna be a stud.”
Most impressive Packers newcomer?

"Matthew Golden," Jordan Love said without hesitation.
"He's gonna be a stud." 👀
"Very aggressive hands, smooth route runner, he's got speed."

Golden has clearly made a strong impression on Love and the coaching staff, earning early praise for his work ethic and grasp of the playbook. With Christian Watson still recovering from a knee injury, Golden is in a prime position to earn meaningful snaps right away in Green Bay’s wide-open receiver room that lacks game-breaking upside.
Fantasy-wise, Golden is shaping up to be a sneaky rookie with real upside. He’s currently being drafted at WR46, and that number could climb quickly if he continues to impress this preseason. While he’s technically listed behind Romeo Doubs, Jayden Reed, and Dontayvian Wicks on the first unofficial depth chart, Golden has the talent and opportunity to leapfrog into a significant role.
If he builds on this early chemistry with Love and proves to make big plays, don’t be surprised if Golden ends up delivering weekly WR2/3 value with some blow-up games as a rookie.
OTHER FANTASY FOOTBALL NEWS & NOTES:
- Jordan Addison is officially suspended for three games. Jalen Nailor (decent best ball dart throw) becomes the team’s WR2 behind Justin Jefferson while Addison misses time.
- After being seen on the sidelines throughout training camp, Malik Nabers said it is “part of the plan” for him to miss some portions of practice going forward. It’s something to keep an eye on, considering Nabers has dealt with a lingering toe injury since his LSU days.
- De’Von Achane is lining up in the slot more often and improving his route running.
- Although Matthew Stafford has been held out of training camp with a back injury (aggravated disk), Sean McVay said he is “making good progress.” We shall see…
- Old friend Keenan Allen signed a one-year, $8.52 million contract with the LA Chargers.
- James Cook (business) did not practice on Wednesday.
- Emeka Egbuka has been Tampa Bay’s standout performer in training camp, lining up in Chris Godwin’s ‘Big Slot’ role, per ESPN’s Jenna Laine.
- Are we getting trolled? RJ Harvey is listed as the RB5 on the Broncos’ first unofficial depth chart, but “it’s clear” he’s the RB2 behind JK Dobbins.
- Drake Maye and Jaden Daniels were dealing in joint practices, with Deebo Samuel, Pop Douglas, Zach Ertz, Kayshon Boutte, and TreVeyon Henderson standing out on offense. RSJ had boots on the ground for this one:
