2025 NFL TRAINING CAMP NEWS (7/31)
BREECE HALL & BRAELON ALLEN 1A & 1B
The Jets’ backfield is starting to look more like a true 1A-1B situation than a clear-cut Breece Hall show, and that’s more of a compliment to Braelon Allen than a knock on Hall, per The Athletic’s Zack Rosenblatt.
Allen’s been turning heads in camp with his size, burst, and physical downhill style. After flashing as a rookie last offseason, he got buried when the Jets abandoned the run mid-year. But in 2025, the 240-pound bruiser looks too good to keep on the sidelines.
Aaron Glenn on some of the ways the #Jets plan to utilize RBs Breece Hall & Braelon Allen:

"I told Breece today that receiving will be an element of his game that we're gonna try & make sure that we utilize, & Braelon, a 240 lbs man that's always falling forward, that's where… pic.twitter.com/wunXUMeTUE
“Braelon is a 240-pound man that’s always falling forward,” Glenn said. “That’s where he’s going to make his money … it’s going to weigh on defensive players.”
Allen’s also showing more as a pass-catcher, which opens the door for both him and Hall to be on the field together more often. New OC Tanner Engstrand wants to get Hall more involved as a receiver, and if that happens, Allen could take over early-down and short-yardage work while still seeing targets of his own.
Hall is still our RB14 heading into drafts, but Allen, currently sitting at RB53, might just be one of the sneakier handcuffs with standalone upside if the Jets follow through on using both backs heavily.
