Lynn Bowden Jr. Sneaky Fantasy Waiver Wire Add After Making Most of Opportunity With Dolphins

The Dolphins' do-it-all weapon, Lynn Bowden Jr., is an intriguing waiver wire stash for the fantasy playoffs.

Lynn Bowden Jr. was drafted in the third round by the Las Vegas Raiders. As it became apparent that the Raiders and Bowden weren’t a great fit, Bowden was traded to the Dolphins where he patiently waited for his opportunity. After injuries to Myles Gaskin, DeVante Parker, and Jakeem Grant, Bowden’s number was called upon and he didn’t disappoint.

Week 14 against the Chiefs, Bowden led all Dolphins receivers in routes run, receptions, and receiving yards. He also received nine targets and caught seven of them for 82 yards.

Coming out of Kentucky, Bowden was hard to fit into a box. A high school quarterback that was primarily used as a gadget player, Bowden was recruited to the University of Kentucky. While there, Bowden made a profound impact during his sophomore season when he led the Wildcats in receiving and receiving touchdowns.

In 2019, after an injury to both Kentucky quarterbacks, Bowden was pulled from wide receiver to play quarterback. As the quarterback for the Wildcats, Bowden led the SEC in rushing in only eight games while making key plays with his arm when needed.

Bowden’s ability to create plays on his own and excel after the catch is a perfect fit for Tua Tagovailoa and offensive coordinator Chan Gailey’s quick-strike offense.

Tua and Bowden have developed instant chemistry, connecting on 11 of 13 targets in his last two games. With the status of Parker and Grant both up in the air entering into week 15, Bowden’s pathway to targets couldn’t be more clear. With the injury to tight end Mike Gesicki’s shoulder, there is volume to go around, even if Grant and Parker are active.

As Tua continues to grow and develop, the pieces in this aerial attack should continue to see their fantasy stocks continue to rise accordingly. Bowden has yet to find the end zone and is nothing more than an emergency flex dart throw. Bowden should not be more than a depth piece at this point.
