Myles Gaskin Injury Update: ‘Trending Toward’ Playing Week 13, Fantasy Outlook Soars as Workhorse

With the Dolphins RB room manhandled by the injury bug, Myles Gaskin's fantasy outlook rises as the running back is set to return from injury.

The Dolphins running back room resembles an emergency department, but it looks like they might get their workhorse RB back just in time for Week 13. Myles Gaskin, who returned to practice last week and practiced this week, is set to return from an MCL sprain that has sidelined him for four weeks. Although he could be a bit rusty, the team expects him to carry a full workload because Salvon AhmedMatt Breida, and DeAndre Washington are all going to miss the team’s Week 13 tilt against the leaky Bengals defense.

Prior to the knee injury, Brian Flores was riding Gaskin as a legitimate workhorse. The former Husky touched the ball at least 21 times in four of his last five games and accounted for at least 63 percent of the team’s offensive snaps.

“When you’re out a few weeks, there’s a conditioning element, there’s a getting back-to-it element. … Normally it takes a little — a week or two weeks to get back to hopefully back to where he was,” Flores said of Gaskin. “It all starts in practice. If he goes out there and practices well and we feel like he can take the majority of the carries like he was prior to injury, then that could be the case, but we’ll see.”

Even when Gaskin, Ahmed, Washington, and Breida are healthy, it’s pretty clear Gaskin will retain the workhorse role. However, Ahmed would be a solid handcuff (31 percent owned) for Gaskin owners if his knee were to act up over the final few weeks. Washington would represent decent real-life value, but Ahmed adequately took over the duties and saw a significant workload when he was healthy.

Looking forward, Gaskin would get the Bengals, Chiefs, Patriots, and Raiders for the remainder of the fantasy season. Not too bad.

In his return, Gaskin is up to RB24 (+5 vs ECR) on The Wolf’s Rest of Season Big Board, meaning he’s high on Gaskin’s chances of returning to lead duties. On the other hand, Ahmed has dropped down to RB56 (-7 vs ECR), and will likely slip further on the next update.
