Some People Benched Chris Godwin in Fantasy This Week, Those People are Miserable Today

Chris Godwin got in one limited practice last week, which unfortunately stapled Godwin to many fantasy benches.

There was a lot of concern about whether Chris Godwin would be able to go at all on Sunday.  The Bucs’ WR missed practice on Wednesday and then again on Thursday with a hip injury, leaving plenty of people (even plenty of smart people) to not even put Godwin in their lineup.  Here’s my confession for the week: I am one of those (allegedly) smart people.

That’s right, I missed out on the best game of Godwin’s career.  He was targeted 14 times against the Rams on Sunday and he hauled in 12 of those passes for a cool 172 yards, and scored twice.  In short, Godwin had an absolutely massive fantasy game–a full 12 points more than the 2nd place guy (Davante Adams) in Week 4.  The Winston/Godwin pig roast was in full effect.

Here are a few more things you might not have yet realized about the season Godwin is having.

  1. Chris Godwin is tied for the NFL lead for touchdowns amongst all WRs
  2. Godwin is 3rd in the NFL in receiving yards (and he’s only 2 yards behind Cooper Kupp, who is #2)
  3. Godwin is tied for 4th in receptions amongst all WRs
  4. And finally (and most importantly)… Godwin is 2nd, behind only Keenan Allen, in fantasy scoring amongst WRs using the RSJ’s preferred Half PPR scoring system.

So yeah, you probably knew Godwin had been good.  But if you’re anything like me, I’ll bet you didn’t know just how good.  I assure you, I will never sit him again.  I suggest you don’t either.
