Russell Wilson Far Deadlier in Fantasy While Compensating for Pathetic Defense

These aren't the defensive-minded Seahawks from a few years ago and it's good for Russell Wilson's fantasy outlook.

Remember when the Seahawks’ defense was the stuff of legends?  Remember when Seattle could get up 10-6 and then just run the ball and rely on the D to shut the door?  What a great team that was, and what a fantasy nightmare.  Well guess what?  Those days are over.  The 2019 Seattle defense is not the Legion of Boom.  They give up over 300 yards a game just through the air, and that’s a great recipe for them to have to throw the ball themselves–and by themselves, we mean Russell Wilson.

Wilson went 32 for 50 passing on Sunday for 406 yards and 2 touchdowns.  He also added 51 yards running and another (ho-hum) 2 touchdowns.  That… is an absolutely massive fantasy game.  So massive in fact that Wilson’s numbers in Week 3 dwarfed those of every other QB in the league and have rocketed him into the QB4 fantasy spot for the season so far, just a handful of points behind Patrick “The Wolf Gets Wet Just Watching Me Stretch” Mahomes.

The combination of the Seahawks defense being a shell of what it once was, being willing and able to make plays with his legs, being one of the best passers in the game, and the incredible potential of his receiving corps make Russell Wilson a fantasy goldmine right now.  Personally, if I were betting on anyone to unseat Mahomes as the QB1 this year, it would be Wilson.

From The Wolf’s perspective, Wilson comes in at his QB8 in his Rest of Season Big Board.
