Mike McCarthy Locks Aaron Jones Back Into Committee… Immediately Fired

Let's all hope Joe Philbin will do the right thing.

Aaron Jones rushed 11 times for 36 yards and a touchdown and caught 4-of-4 targets for 16 yards in Green Bay’s Week 13 loss to Arizona.

The entire Green Bay offense bombed in what looked like a great spot for them to get on track at home against Arizona. Jamaal Williams got way too many touches (11 touches for 27 yards), and Jones only turned in a usable fantasy performance because of his late-game touchdown from eight yards out, set up by Davante Adams’ toe-tapping 19-yard sideline catch on the previous play. Jones will remain a quality RB1/2 when the Packers host the Falcons next week, but coach Mike McCarthy really needs to get over his obsession with weekly black hole Williams.

Take this one with a grain of salt because the Packers fired Mike McCarthy after their horrific loss at home to the Cardinals. After weeks and weeks of begging McCarthy finally treated Jones like the talented workhorse he can be and it paid huge dividends for owners who drafted him late. Now in this last game he split work between Jones and Jamaal Williams in the ultimate head scratcher. Sure enough, McCarthy was fired and you pray to the higher powers that Joe Philbin has a brain and puts Jones back in that workhorse role. Until we know for sure it will be tough to have rock solid confidence in Jones. However, a date with the RB pampering Falcons serves as a great rebound for underwhelming Packers offense.
