Jarvis Landry is a Target Machine, Carries Huge Every-Week Fantasy WR1 Upside

Jarvis Landry developed more rapport with Baker Mayfield.

Despite catching just 11 passes over Baker Mayfield’s first 3 starts, Jarvis Landry has been targeted double-digit times in every game so far this season. He’s 2nd in the NFL in targets behind only Adam Thielen, so even on slow offensive days – which will be frequent for a Hue Jackson-coached team with a rookie QB – he still carries big game potential. Landry started slow Sunday against Tampa Bay with just 4 catches for 23 yards in the first half but came on strong late, converting all 6 second half targets for 73 yards and his 2nd TD of the season. He’s a top-20 WR on our Rest of Season Big Board and continues to trend upwards with a matchup against Pittsburgh looming for Week 8.

Landry was 4th in the NFL in targets a season ago, but after being traded to Cleveland his usage was a bit of a question mark. That uncertainty has faded fully through 7 weeks, with Landry averaging over 11 targets per game and clearly pacing Cleveland’s aerial attack. His efficiency isn’t what it once was – 50.6% catch rate in 2018 compared to 69.6% last year – but fantasy owners will take that as long as his production keeps up. And now, with matchups against Pittsburgh, Kansas City, and Atlanta – 3 of the league’s worst pass defenses – over the next few weeks, Landry could be a force for the foreseeable future, especially in PPR formats.
