We know the history of Hue Jackson and getting his teams to run the ball, which was a good sign for Cleveland Browns running backs. Then the team goes ahead and signs two stud offensive lineman to complete what is now one of the NFL’s best offensive lines. JC Tretter was added at the center spot while Kevin Zeitler was added at guard. That is a monster O-line right up there with the Cowboys for skill and talent level. Isaiah Crowell is probably doing cartwheels all off-season thinking about running behind these behemoths, and with Jackson looking to run the ball even more, Crowell could push for serious RB1 potential.

Speaking of the Browns, receiver Corey Coleman is going to be missing some time until training camp starts. It’s just a precautionary thing so there’s no big worry about the Browns starting receiver who last year dealt with a hand injury. Coleman and newcomer Kenny Britt will be the top passing game weapons with the departure of Terrelle Pryor.

“In a way, (Jordan) Howard’s already done that by toning himself physically. He’s noticeably slimmer than he was last season…Howard’s offseason plan calls for weight loss but he also needs to maintain his strength and power, which make him imposing at the point of contact.” Adam L. Jahns – Chicago Sun Times

Coming off a Pro Bowl season, Howard is really focusing on getting himself in shape to handle another large workload in Chicago this season. With either Mike Glennon or Mitchell Trubisky taking over at quarterback, Howard should be getting plenty of touches in 2017. With such little supporting talent around him, it has caused The Wolf to drop Howard significantly in his RB rankings.

Quick Slants:

  • There are a lot of NFL teams who believe former QB Tony Romo will be back on the field “sooner than later”. I don’t disagree
  • Patriots RB James White has “won over both Bill Belichick and Tom Brady with his steadiness and continued improvement”. I would have thought White won them over after the last Super Bowl performance
  • Cardinals legend Larry Fitzgerald praised rookie Chad Williams‘ hands, saying they reminded him of Anquan Boldin. A very nice thing to say for a guy who could end up being a deep round penny stock.
  • RB Matt Jones has been informed that he’s no longer a part of the Washington Redskins’ plans. Talk about a brief stint
