Fantasy Football Stock Report: There could be another game-changing WR in Pittsburgh

Every morning we compile the most important fantasy football links of the day for you to stay up-to-date and ahead of your fantasy opponents… This is your number one place for beat writer blabber, injury news, transaction tracking, and fantasy analysis from the experts who taught us a thing or two.

“[Sammie] Coates, a third-round draft choice in 2015, will have to have some unwordly performances to make up for the loss of Martavis Bryant, who has been suspended for the 2016 season. But, if one week is any indication, he has shown the ability to be a game-changing receiver with his size, strength and speed. And, believe it or not, hands.”

Gerry Dulac, Pittsburgh Gazette

We all know Antonio Brown is going to garner a lot of attention and will see constant double teams/ safety help. We also saw the impact that (sober) Martavis Bryant had when he was on the field. Sammie Coates is a great talent who never put it all together at Auburn, but has a chance to be a legitimate option in Pittsburgh’s aerial attack. If Coates can steal the starting job away from Markus Wheaton, then he would be a legit fantasy option across from Brown.

We covered this extensively throughout the day, but Patriots’ fans were able to breathe a sigh of relief when Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network reported that today was just a scare. Famed Twitter doctor @ProFootballDoc mentioned that scar tissue is commonly torn post-surgery, which sometimes scares athletes, but the foot is always fine. We’ll keep you updated once we learn more.

Here’s another Jimmy Graham update from Pete Carroll. I’ve been back-and-forth on Graham and his fantasy status this season; as he is a clear TE2 at this point, but Seattle should throw the ball much more this year without Marshawn Lynch. Russell Wilson emerged once Lynch went down and Seattle’s offense trended more to the air than ever before. Grab Graham late and stash him, because he might have some surprise upside.

Quick Hits:

  • Stop me if you’ve heard this before… Victor Cruz has a “tight groin” and will most likely miss the first preseason game. Sigh.
  • Brandon LaFell, AKA the King of the Dropsies, has been “flashing” at Bengals camp. In all seriousness, if he can get back to his ’14 form, he has a chance to do great things across from AJ Green. Also, rookie WR Tyler Boyd has been standing out in camp.
  • After being a sour puss during OTAs, Austin Safarian-Jenkins has “flashed” during camp
  • Will Fuller is running with the first-team offense in Houston *eye roll*
  • Not mentioning Tebow, not mentioning Tebow, not mentioning Tebow.
