Week 2 XFL DFS: Quarterback Rankings and Top DraftKings Plays (2020)

Finding the right 30+ FP QB is crucial to winning the big money in XFL DFS. Here's The Wolf's Week 2 preview.

After a smashing Week 1 debut, the XFL is gearing up for the second week of action. Currently, the top option for XFL Fantasy is XFL DFS on DraftKings. Below, The Wolf gives you his picks for the top options for Week 2 XFL DFS Quarterbacks. In such a pass-happy league, the right signal-caller is crucial to a winning lineup.

Week 2 XFL DFS QB Rankings

Tier 1:

1) PJ Walker (HOU) vs STL (2nd Fewest FPPG allowed)

Price: $10,600 (1st)

PJ Walker ($10,600) operated June Jones’ “Run ‘n Shoot” to perfection to the tune of a league-high 32.5 FPs in Week 1. Though some feel its a mirage, we feel Walker will continue to thrive because the overall scheme and coaching is tops of the XFL. Although the top-priced option, Walker’s ownership should be high, but he’s still the clear top option if paying up. Expect another 3+ TDs.

Tier 2:

2) Landry Jones  (DAL) @ LA (Most FPPG)

Price: $9500 (5th), QUESTIONABLE  (Knee)

3) Josh Johnson (LA) vs DAL (5th most FPPG)

Price: $10,400 (2nd), QUESTIONABLE (Thigh)

4) Cardale Jones (DC) vs NY (Fewest FPPG)

Price: $10,200 (3rd)

That being said, Landry Jones ($9500) is my favorite play on the slate (assuming he plays). Priced as the fifth-highest option, Jones is my No.2 QB. He possesses the most natural arm-talent in the league, and is squaring off with the same defense that Walker just shredded. Sure, Bob Stoops and Hal Mumme’s “Air Raid” was vastly underwhelming, but they didn’t have the proper QB talent to execute. Moreover, their 42 pass attempts were the highest in the league, and Jones has previously thrived in this exact attack in college. Thus, we think the Renegades O will take off in Week 2, giving Jones huge upside that’s even higher if Josh Johnson returns for an epic XFL QB duel. Jones could bomb 4+ scores Sunday.

In that regards, Johnson ($10,400) is our third-best play. This defense stinks, which should lead to positive “catch-up” scripts. Moreover, Johnson is the best dual threat in the league, and he drips in 70+ rushing yard upside. Don’t be shocked if he smashes in his debut. Most will wisely turn to Walker for only $200, which gives Johnson tournament-clinching upside as a huge differentiator. We’re expecting both QBs to return and inject immediate life into an otherwise dull QB position.

PFF’s highest-graded QB thus far, Cardale Jones ($10,200) was stellar in Week 1. He immediately established high expectations for the XFL right from the kickoff. Still, his ceiling feels lower than the other $10k options because he shares GL snaps and PATs with Tyreek Jackson, and New York’s defense felt very legitimate.

Tier 3:

5) Jordan Ta’amu (STL) @ HOU (4th most FPPG)

Price: $8900 (7th)

6) Matt McGloin (NY) @ DC (3rd Fewest FPPG)

Price: $9,900 (3rd)

Outside of Walker, no one surprised more than the Battlehawks’ Jordan Ta’amu ($8900). Topping 70 rushing yards, Ta’amu flashed great mobility, and should continue racking up points on the ground. This week, he’ll also benefit from playing “catch up” against the XFL’s top offense. If Ta’amu can keep up, he’ll be an absolute steal at $8900, and is easily the top “bargain” option on the board.

Matt McGloin ($9900) was solid, but unspectacular in his XFL debut. Still, he’s priced as the fourth highest option, $500 more than our second favorite play (Landry Jones) for Week 2. The only reason to turn to McGloin would be differentiation.

Tier 4:

7) Aaron Murray @ SEA (3rd Most FPPG)

2/15 Update: Murray is OUT; Quinton Flowers ($7500) to start

8) Brandon Silvers vs. TB (2nd Most FPPG)

Price: $8200 (9th), QUESTIONABLE (Ankle)

The same holds true for Aaron Murray ($9200) who completely blew on Sunday. He’s $300 more than Ta’amu, and is also dealing with a foot injury. The sheer volume in Marc Trestman‘s pass happy attack sustains upside at what should be minimal ownership, but we aren’t wasting any lineups on this puke play. Ideally, Murray sits and unlocks the insane upside of Quinton Flowers ($7500), who’d become a top-play for the enormous ceiling at bare-bones price.

Brandon Silvers doesn’t offer a ton of appeal in the Dragons’ run-based attack. If he sits, BJ Daniels would be a far more viable option given his huge rushing potential. Otherwise, ignore.

Injuries & Other QBs to Monitor:

  • If the Vipers were smart, Aaron Murray (foot) would be hitting the bench regardless of his foot injury. Thankfully, Marc Trestman might not even have the chance to ruin this, as Murray has missed the full week of practice. Flowers offers elite rushing upside (34 yards on only 5 carries and limited snaps in Week 1), and can sling the rock. He’d be an elite value at $7500, although Taylor Cornelius is listed ahead of him on the Week 2 depth chart. We’ve seen time and time again… depth charts mean nothing in this league.
  • Josh Johnson (thigh) has logged back-to-back padded practices to begin the week, and seems on track for Sunday. With a pathetic defense, Johnson will be tasked with putting up points, especially if Landry Jones (knee) suits up opposite him for the Renegades. Charles Kanoff, Fantasy XFL’s current QB2, would get the call if Johnson surprisingly sits. At $7900, he’s not a bad punt, but the Wildcats play the second-to-last game. Phillip Nelson showed no upside in his spot-start, checking down relentlessly. At $8500, he’s not worth a spot start.
  • Brandon Silvers (ankle) currently leads the XFL in TD passes (3), but is questionable for a plum matchup against the generous Vipers secondary. He has yet to practice this week. BJ Daniels is only $8000, and brings some rushing chops (2060 rushing yards, 25 TDs in college)

Top DraftKings QB Plays

Top Week 2 Play: Landry Jones ($9500)

Highest Projected Week 2 Scorer: PJ Walker ($10,600)

Top Week 2 Value QB: Jordan Ta’amu ($8900)*

Quinton Flowers could steal this crown if Aaron Murray sits in Week 2.
