RotoVegas | NFL Week 14 Fantasy Football Results and Breakdown

Once again, we’re back with yet another week of #RotoVegas. The readers have had some solid showings in recent weeks after a slow first half of the year, including a 4-1 showing last week. I’m not a big math guy, but with the season series currently sitting at 38-25-2 in RSJ’s favor and 4 weeks remaining, the readers could still pull off a miraculous win for the season. But, of course, let’s take it one step at a time.

Our polls were, as always, posted on our Twitter and Instagram at the end of last week. Be sure to vote again this week while you (hopefully) get your team ready for a playoff matchup. Now, here’s how Week 14 went.

1. Andrew Luck looks to continue his strong play against the red-hot Texans, and he’s a 4-point favorite over Tom Brady, who’s our QB11 against the Dolphins. Who you got?

Luck -4: 56%
Brady +4: 44%

Winner: Brady +4

In our first matchup of the week, Andrew Luck did his best to take this one for himself. In a win over the Texans, who’d won 9 straight heading into the game, Luck finished with just under 400 yards, 2 TDs, 1 INT, and another 16 yards on the ground, good for 23.6 points. But, through no fault of his own, he was up against the GOAT. Tom Brady and the Pats may have absolutely blown their game in Miami, but Brady did his job for sure, racking up 358 yards and 3 TDs for Sunday’s best QB performance. Both played well, but Brady gets the win here.

2. Joe Mixon is our RB10 in a matchup with the Chargers, and Tarik Cohen is 3 spots below him when his Bears face the Rams. With the line Mixon -5, who’s your pick?

Mixon -5: 37%
Cohen +5: 63%

Winner: Mixon -5

Joe Mixon had himself a real strong day in Cincy’s loss to the Chargers, putting up 111 yards and a TD on the ground and catching another 5 balls for 27 yards. That gave him 24.8 PPR points on the day, giving Tarik Cohen a tall task for the night game. Cohen was decent, finishing with the perfect dumb internet joke stat line (69 yards, 4/20 receiving), but didn’t do enough to cover. 0-2 start for the readers.

3. Mike Thomas looks to bounce back from a couple slow weeks against the Bucs, and he’s a 6-point favorite over Amari Cooper, who’ll hope to continue the hot start to his Cowboys career. Who you got?

Thomas -6: 49%
Cooper +6: 51%

Winner: Cooper +6

The voting was VERY close; the production was not. Amari Cooper narrowly beat out Michael Thomas in the voting, but blew him out of the water on the field, catching 10 passes for 217 yards and 3 TDs to lead all WRs with an ABSURD 49.7 points on the day. Thomas had a decent showing himself, catching 11 of 13 targets for 98 yards, but was put in an impossible spot in this one. The readers get themselves a W.

4. George Kittle will try to continue his breakout year in a matchup against the Broncos, while Jared Cook has a home matchup with the Steelers. At Kittle -4, who are you taking?

Kittle -4: 63%
Cook +4: 37%

Winner: Kittle -4

Much like Mike Thomas before him, Jared Cook lost this one despite a solid, productive fantasy showing. Cook was targeted 10 times in Oakland’s win over Pittsburgh, catching 7 for 116 yards for 18.6 points. But George Kittle was a maniac on Sunday, racking up over 200 yards before halftime and finishing with 7 grabs for 210 yards and a TD to lead all TEs with 34 points. We now sit at 2-2 heading into poll #5.

5. The Broncos are our top D/ST option when they head to San Francisco to face the 49ers, and they’re a 4-point favorite over our #3 option, the Steelers, who face the Raiders. Take your pick.

Broncos -4: 73%
Steelers +4: 27%
Winner: Steelers +4
And yet again, the D/ST poll comes back to haunt the readers. Sunday saw 8 defenses put up double-digit points, but neither in this matchup came anywhere close. Denver, the favorite, had a poor showing in a loss to San Francisco with just 1 INT, 3 sacks, and 20 PA for 4 points on the day. The Steelers suffered a tough loss as well, with the defense grabbing a fumble while registering 4 sacks and allowing 24 points, good for 5 fantasy points on the day. Not great by any means, but enough to cover and give the readers a 3-2 loss, setting the season series at 41-27-2 in RSJ’s favor through 14 weeks.

Be sure to vote each week on our Twitter account and Instagram Story, and check back after the games are over for the breakdown. If you enjoy it, tell your friends! Nothing would make me happier than getting this series big enough that I can take your money for real. And if you have any questions about real-life wagers or fantasy, hit me up on Twitter as well.
