RotoVegas | NFL Week 9 Fantasy Football Results and Breakdown

The second half of the NFL season is upon us, and the #RotoVegas train is still chugging along. So far we’ve had 5 polls per week for 8 weeks; I’m no math major, but I believe that comes out to 40 polls in total. Our loyal readers have come out on the right end of just 14 of those, amounting to a winning percentage of about .350. In 2018 NFL terms, you guys are somewhere between the Lions and the Jets. But hey, you could be the Raiders. And of course, there’s always time to turn it around in the 2nd half.

Week 9 of the NFL season was another great one, so let’s see how you guys did in predicting the week’s fantasy winners and losers.

1. The undefeated Rams led by our QB4 Jared Goff will take on the Saints in New Orleans, while Kirk Cousins leads the Vikings against the Lions. The line is Goff -6; who you got?

Goff -6: 44%
Cousins +6: 56%

Winner: Goff -6

Well, I’d like to say good effort here, but this one wasn’t even close. Kirk Cousins had looked solid as of late, topping 17 points in 3 consecutive weeks, but Sunday’s Rams/Saints game was the most predictable offensive shootout since Chiefs/Patriots. Jared Goff and the Rams offense may not have done enough to win, but their performance certainly didn’t disappoint fantasy owners; they put up 35 points in the game, with Goff putting up just under 400 yards and tacking on 3 passing TDs. His performance was the 2nd-best of the week among QBs behind only Drew Brees, his opponent for the afternoon. Cousins, meanwhile, ceded most of Minnesota’s production to the run game in a win over Detroit, completing 18 of 22 passes but finishing with just 164 yards, 1 TD, and 1 INT.

2. Alvin Kamara is our RB4 against the Vikings and a 4-point favorite over Ezekiel Elliot when his Cowboys face the Titans on Monday Night Football. Who’s your pick?

Kamara -4: 49%
Zeke +4: 51%

Winner: Kamara -4

Again, the readers overlook the combo of explosive offenses and average defenses in a dome stadium. The top QB, WR, and RB performances of the week all came from members of the Saints, with Alvin Kamara putting up 116 total yards and 3 TDs on 23 touches (19 rush, 4 rec) to top all RBs in scoring for Week 9. Ezekiel Elliott put up a decent showing on Monday Night Football, rushing 17 times for 61 yards and adding another 51 yards on 4 catches, but it wasn’t enough. Very close vote on this one, but the readers lose this one, too.

3. Davante Adams is our WR2 this week against the Patriots and a 4-point favorite over Julio Jones when he faces the Redskins. Who you got?

Adams -4: 54%
Jones +4: 46%

Winner: Jones +4

Davante Adams tried to make this one close with a solid showing in primetime against New England, turning 9 targets into 6 catches for 40 yards and a TD, good for 16 points on the night. But the big story of the weekend came from the guy he found himself up against in this matchup: Julio Jones scored a touchdown! In a real, organized professional football game! Jones topped 100 yards for the 5th time in 8 games, but it was his first taste of the end zone since Week 12 of 2017 that put him over the top, propelling him to 25.1 points on the day to cover this spread.

4. Travis Kelce is our top TE option, while Rob Gronkowski comes in as our TE4 in a matchup with the Packers. The line is Kelce -5; what’s your pick?

Kelce -5: 73%
Gronk +5: 27%

Winner: Kelce -5

Well, this one was over right away, since Rob Gronkowski missed New England’s Sunday night game with a handful of ailments. But just to be safe, Travis Kelce had himself a day against the Browns, putting up the top TE performance of the week with 7 catches for 99 yards and 2 TDs, good for 28.9 points. An easy, stress-free, MUCH needed win here for the readers heading into poll #5.

5. The Panthers D will look to shut down the Buccaneers at home, while the Texans face the Broncos in Denver. With Carolina a 3-point favorite, who you got?

Panthers -3: 65%
Texans +3: 35%

Winner: Texans +3

And yet again, a 1-4 week for our loyal voters. This one was close, with the Panthers actually beating the Texans straight-up. Carolina’s D had 2 picks and 3 sacks while allowing 28 points to the Bucs, which netted them 6 points on the day. Houston was right behind, recording a fumble recovery, 2 sacks, and 17 PA for 5 points on the afternoon, which was plenty enough to cover the 3-point spread. With yet another tough week for the readers, the season series now sits at 30-15 in RSJ’s favor through 9 weeks.

Be sure to vote each week on our Twitter account and Instagram Story, and check back after the games are over for the breakdown. If you enjoy it, tell your friends!
