Mr. @DNewtonespn also told me today to expect a lower target share for Kelvin Benjamin and more of a "committee" approach at WR.

Today on @NextLevelFF, @DNewtonespn told me he expects Devin Funchess to emerge as the Panthers No. 2 WR this season. Will play outside+slot

Cam Newton killed it last year without his premiere No. 1 perimeter target, Kelvin Benjamin and Benjamin will be back on the field in 2016. The issue with Benjamin’s return, is that he is vastly overrated and is not a clear No. 1 guy. As a rookie, he feasted in garbage-time and he will not see the 145 targets that he received that season. Excluding Greg Olsen, there will be an abundance of decent and mostly unproven talent at wideout for the Panthers; with Benjamin, Devin Funchess, Philly Brown and Ted Ginn. Do not let Benjamin’s solid statistical campaign force you to overdraft him, as we expect a major fantasy letdown for the former Seminole in 2016.
“The only thing hotter than the weather will be the battle at wide receiver where, beyond the Big 2 of Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb, anything and everything will be up for grabs, from the No. 3 role to an end-of-camp pink slip. Davante Adams will have to hold off Jeff Janis, Jared Abbrederis, Ty Montgomery and Trevor Davis.”
After burning fantasy owners in 2015, it looks like Davante Adams will get the first crack at the No. 3 wideout spot in Green Bay. Still only 23, Adams has the talent to secure a spot in the starting lineup alongside Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb. Nelson’s preseason injury sent a ripple effect throughout the wide receiver depth chart, as Cobb and Adams were unable to pick up the slack from their fallen WR. A Nelson, Cobb and Adams threesome should help Aaron Rodgers bounce back in 2016.
As if we needed more confirmation that Boyd is their slot WR, Geoff Hobson adds "no matter what". pic.twitter.com/0MrHdvCnBj

It looks like 2016 second-round wide receiver Tyler Boyd will be the one to replace Mohamed Sanu in the slot in Cincinnati. Boyd had an extremely productive career at Pitt and has the size and skillset to to perform at a high level. Gaining Andy Dalton’s trust will be his No. 1 priority, but it looks like he’s well on his way to doing so. We wouldn’t draft Boyd until extremely late, but he could be a good dynasty target to stash away for future seasons.
Not strictly fantasy:
- Tampa Bay WR Louis Murphy woke up in a museum on Saturday morning. He attended a wedding the night before, got hammered and fell asleep in the courtyard. Sounds like a solid night to me.
- If Nelson Agholar avoids a suspension, he will be the Eagles No. 2 wideout.
- Emmanuel Sanders is in a contract year and will most likely not be extended before the season. Expect a big year from the Broncos WR.
- Megatron told ESPN E:60 that he took “pain killers” everyday during his career.
