Chargers RB Justin Jackson Underwhelms, Still a Fantasy Must-Hold

Though he disappointed Sunday, Justin Jackson needs to be held onto. Here's why:

Yes, Justin Jackson failed to match our Week 14 hype, sputtering to a pathetic 12 yards on seven carries while adding 23 yards on two catches in a Week 13 win versus the Bengals. Even still, Jackson remains a must-hold, and that’s not just blind stubbornness on our end. For one, Austin Ekeler is being labeled “extremely doubtful” for TNF with a bruised nerve in his neck. He’s also in the league’s concussion protocol, and won’t be playing Thursday. Meanwhile, though stud Melvin Gordon “could return” this week, he did not practice Monday and is questionable at best. Thus, Jackson could have a shot at the ultimate redemption. He’d be an unquestioned workhorse against a Chiefs run defense surrendering the second most FPs to backs.

If Jackson enters TNF as a clear bet for 15-20 touches in this soft matchup, he’d be a near must-start and Top-15 RB play. Prior to this dud, Jackson was popping off the tape, gashing teams for 8.0 YPC, and executing dangerously well at the stripe. He was the definition of a workhorse, touching the ball 1,264 times for 5,440 yards and 41 touchdowns on the ground, and 858 receiving yards on 122 receptions. A return to his bellcow roots is too much upside to pass up, even if Jackson is unplayable should Gordon return. Hold him.
