2018 Fantasy Football Week 14: Stream Team

Welcome back to the Stream Team, the best place to scour the waiver wire and assemble a team of players owned in 50% or less of leagues. We made some strides Week 13 in getting back over 100 points, but alas it was not meant to be, mostly due to David Moore putting up an incomprehensible 0.0 in a game where the Seahawks scored 43 points and Russell Wilson threw for 4 passing touchdowns, all to wide receivers. That one will stick out in my head all year as a big “Eff You” to me from the fantasy gods. Unfortunately for the gods, I have more will power and drive than a Ford, so I am right back in the mud of the waiver wire for Week 14’s Stream Team.

Update on 12/4 @ 12:15 PM: With both James Conner and Matt Breida out for Sunday’s games, Jaylen Samuels and Jeff Wilson Jr. will occupy the two RB positions, and are RSJ’s #1 and #2 adds this week. You must pick this players up if available.

Quarterback

QB: Lamar Jackson, RB, Baltimore Ravens (46% Yahoo ownership)

Did I read that Joe Flacco could share quarterback duties with rookie phenom Lamar Jackson Week 14 against Kansas City. Does John Harbaugh want to lose his job? All Lamar Jackson has done in his 3 starts is go 3-0 and bring the Ravens from a sub .500 team to a 7-5 second wild card contender, one full game ahead of four other 6-6 AFC teams. And now we want to turn back the clocks to Flacco?!?!? I do not buy it. Jackson has been one of the better NFL stories this year, and one of the (if not the) most intriguing and interesting players to watch on a weekly basis. And while his passing game definitely needs improvement (60%, 7.55 yards per attempt, sub 70 QB rating), his legs more than make up for his throwing deficiencies (54 rushes for 265 yards, 2 TD’s). The Chiefs in Arrowhead represent a tall task, so Jackson could be leaned on more heavily against KC’s high-powered offensive attack.

Running Back

RB1: LeGarrette Blount, RB, Detroit Lions (42% Yahoo ownership)

The man in slow motion, LeGarrette Blount led all Lions in carries (16) and rushing yards (61) Week 13, solidifying himself as the lead dog in the Lions backfield while Kerryon Johnson nurses himself back from injury. If Johnson misses one more game, Blount will take on the NFL’s league worst run defense against the Arizona Cardinals, who have allowed the most rushing touchdowns and the fourth most rushing yards per game to opposing backs.

RB2: Jalen Richard, RB, Oakland Raiders (39% Yahoo ownership)

While operating as the clear RB2 behind Doug MartinJalen Richard still enjoyed his best game of the season Sunday against Kansas City, totaling 126 yards on 9 touches. Normally, one would assume the lions share of that yardage came from receptions out of the backfield, but au contraire! Richard ripped through the KC defense for 95 yards on the ground on just 6 carries, chipping in 3-31 in the passing game as well. The Steelers showcase one of the better run stuffing defenses in the NFL, so with the Raiders playing from behind look for a similar game script heavily involving Richard.

Wide Receiver

WR1: Chris Godwin, WR, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (46% Yahoo ownership)

You do right by me, and you will find yourself right back on the Stream Team the very next week. Chris Godwin slashed the Carolina Panthers secondary Week 13 for 101 yards and a touchdown, and helped me make good on my promise that he would score a touchdown. I channeled my inner Chris Angel Mind Freak on that one. Godwin’s life gets much easier Week 14 against a Saints squad allowing the most fantasy points to opposing wide receivers. Do I tempt fate and make a touchdown guaranty two weeks in a row?!?!?

WR2: Courtland Sutton, WR, Denver Broncos (49% Yahoo ownership)

With a few more targets and consistent usage, Courtland Sutton finally put it all together Week 13 and became the breakout superstar we thought would emerge upon the Broncos trading Demaryius Thomas. Sutton set season high’s in targets (7), receptions (4), and receiving yardage (85), adding a touchdown to cap off a career day for the second round rookie from SMU. Next up for Sutton is a 49ers defense that just allowed 4 wide receiver touchdowns to the Seattle Seahawks last week.

Tight End

TE: C.J. Uzomah, TE, Cincinnati Bengals (26% Yahoo ownership)

With A.J. Green (toe) likely to miss the remainder of the 2018 season, tight end C.J. Uzomah should see an increased target share. Over the past two weeks, Uzomah has seen 19 targets, but has only caught 11 balls for 72 yards. Although the output is disappointing, the volume gives Uzomah plenty of back end TE1 upside for the remainder of the season.

Flex

Flex: Marquez Valdes-Scantling, WR, Green Bay Packers (40% Yahoo ownership)

With Green Bay’s season falling apart at the seams, the Packers organization finally took steps towards improving its offensive approach by firing Mike McCarthy. McCarthy’s archaic, plodding system failed to truly take advantage of Aaron Rodger‘s greatness. Week 14 will likely have a new look, and I am truly excited for all skill players on Green Bay’s offense, especially Marquez Valdes-Scantling. Scantling burst onto the scene Weeks 5 through 8, either recording a touchdown or 100+ receiving yards in each contest. However, in the 4 games since (3 losses, I may add), Scantling has reeled in just 10 balls for 74 yards. With a shootout brewing against Atlanta, look for the talented rookie to get back on track.

Kicker

K: Brett Maher, K, Dallas Cowboys (20% Yahoo ownership)

In a game that could potentially decide the NFC East, the Dallas Cowboys play host to the Philadelphia Eagles. Brett Maher (14/14) has yet to miss a kick indoors this year, and could play a pivotal role in determining Dallas’ playoff fate Sunday.

Defense

DST: Buffalo Bills DST (30% Yahoo ownership)

Just a few weeks ago, the Bills schwacked the Jets in New York to the tune of 41 to 10. The Buffalo Bills DST put forth a strong showing, sacking Josh McCown 3 times and forcing 2 turnovers. The Bills ranks in the top half of the league in terms of sacks and turnovers forced, and the Jets have the 4th most giveaways this year.

And that’s a wrap for Week 14 of the Fantasy Football Streamers. Be sure to check back every Tuesday to see where to turn to next and get the early leg up on your opponent. Until next time, good luck and godspeed, and may the fantasy football gods forever be in your favor.
