WIth Matt Breida Out For Week 14, Jeff Wilson Jr. is a Must-Add Waiver Wire Target

John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan have quite the eyes for talent.

After toughing out a couple of games this season, Matt Breida will finally sit out a game this season — his first time sitting out of a game since his freshman year of high school. In what has been a very annoying season for Breida owners, they can all take a sigh of relief knowing he’ll be in street clothes this week before eventually re-aggravating an injury and prematurely ending your season. But on the bright side, it looks like Kyle Shanahan spotted a diamond in the rough with undrafted rookie, Jeff Wilson Jr.

After Breida’s ankle flared up during warmups, Wilson played 72 percent of the snaps and saw 23 touches against the Seahawks — highlighted by eight grabs on nine targets. Wilson’s three-down skill-set fits Shanahan’s scheme perfectly, which has allowed veteran Alfred Morris to be a recent healthy scratch. In college, Wilson caught 70 balls for over 500 yards and added 3,200 yards on the ground. We all know how much Shanahan loves pass-catchers out of the backfield, and in this lost season he can see what he has in this relatively unknown undrafted back. Wilson is currently available in 98 percent of leagues and is a perfect streamer option as the clear RB1 in the 49ers offense.
