With James Conner (ankle) out this Sunday, Jaylen Samuels is unquestionably the top waiver wire add Week 14. Not only does Samuels provide security with Conner, but he also possesses immense fantasy value with his tight end eligibility. There are also rumbling this could be the dread high ankle sprain, which means Conner could be out a few games. If Samuels is the starting running back each of the next three weeks, he will be the reason you win your fantasy league if you are able to snag him…With Matt Breida again (eyeroll emoji) aggravating his ankle injury, Jeff Wilson Jr. delivered in relief, totaling 134 yards on 23 touches (8 receptions). The rookie was also involved in Week 12, totaling 41 yards on 8 touches. With Alfred Morris a healthy scratch each of the past two weeks, Wilson is locked into lead back duties with Breida already declared out for Week 14… Things may start to get interesting in Los Angeles. With Melvin Gordon out Week 13, Austin Ekeler, as expected, handled lead back duties. And while providing weekly Flex value spelling Gordon throughout this season, Ekeler fell flat in his second start this season, totaling just 43 yards on 18 touches. However, once the Chargers turned to their seventh round rookie Justin Jackson, the offense began clicking. Jackson turned his 8 carries in 63 yards and a touchdown, and also added one reception for 19 yards. There are rumblings Gordon may be able to return Week 14 against Cincinnati, but that appears unlikely. Ekeler may start again, but Jackson seems to have earned a larger role in the Charger backfield…With both Pierre Garcon and Marquise Goodwin hobbled, Dante Pettis has stepped into the role of WR1 and looks to have developed quite the chemistry with Nick Mullens. Over the past two weeks, Pettis has 9 catches for 206 yards and 3 touchdowns. With a dearth of talent in the wide receiving corps, Pettis should garner a large majority of targets for the 49ers the reminder of the season…Welcome back to fantasy relevancy Jordy Nelson!!!!!!!! Nelson turned back the clock Sunday, catching 10 of 11 targets for 97 yards. Derek Carr looked comfortable last week against KC, and maybe he finally turned a corner with Gruden’s West Coast offense. Nelson is the most experienced and talented wideout in Oakland, so as long as Carr continues throwing, Nelson should be a major benefactor…With A.J. Green (toe) done for the year, that will once again open up targets for C.J. Uzomah. The disappointing RSJ fantasy darling saw a great target share (7) Week 13, but could only muster 33 yards. Hopefully Green’s absence will increase Uzomah’s productivity just in time for the fantasy playoffs.

    47. Chase Edmonds, RB, Arizona Cardinals (1% Yahoo ownership)
    48. D’Onta Foreman, RB, Houston Texans (8% Yahoo ownership)
    49. Mark Andrews, TE, Baltimore Ravens (2% Yahoo ownership)

With TMZ’s release of the horrific and repulsive Kareem Hunt video, the Chiefs waived the sophomore running back, opening up RB1 potential for replacement Spencer Ware. And while providing a touchdown, Ware failed to truly capitalize on his opportunities this past Sunday, averaging just 3.36 yards per carry. Damien Williams, on the other hand, supplied plenty of explosiveness averaging 7.6 YPC on his 5 carries, totaling 45 yards on just 7 touches on the day. This is Ware’s backfield to lose, but he did a good job of letting his strong grasp slip a little with his Week 13 performance…Bruce Ellington has 19 catches on 26 targets over the past three weeks since Detroit placed Marvin Jones Jr. on IR. And while the yardage output during that time (115 yards) has been rather unsightly, he carries WR3 appeal in PPR leagues given his target share…Facing three of the worst offenses (NYG, JAX, TEN) during the fantasy playoffs, the Washington Redskins DST looks primed for a great defensive stretch Week 14 through 16.

Stream

  1. New York Jets DST (10% Yahoo ownership)
  2. New Orleans Saints DST (46% Yahoo ownership)
  3. Derek Carr, QB, Oakland Raiders (18% Yahoo ownership)
  4. New York Giants DST (9% Yahoo ownership)
  5. Detroit Lions DST (7% Yahoo ownership)

A lot of defenses surround the lone position player Week 14. Derek Carr actually looked competent against Kansas City last week, completing 76% of his passes for 285 yards and 3 touchdowns. I suggest Carr with trepidation, but he gets a juicy matchup at home against the now reeling Steelers…The New Orleans Saints DST comes into Week 14 as one of the hottest defensive units, posting 3 straight double digit fantasy point performances, and 4 straight of 9+, recording 20 sacks and 11 turnovers during that stretch.

Others, for those of you in leagues with your grandparents and pets (50-60% Yahoo ownership)

  1. Doug Martin, RB, Oakland Raiders (53% Yahoo ownership); (10-12% FAAB)
  2. Evan Engram, TE, New York Giants (59% Yahoo ownership); (7-9% FAAB)
  3. Dak Prescott, QB, Dallas Cowboys (56% Yahoo ownership); (4-6% FAAB)
  4. Adam Humphries, WR, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (50% Yahoo ownership); (4-6% FAAB)
  5. Theo Riddick, RB, Detroit Lions (56% Yahoo ownership); (4-6% FAAB)
  6. Jameis Winston, QB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (57% Yahoo ownership); (3-5% FAAB)
  7. Baker Mayfield, QB, Cleveland Browns (59% Yahoo ownership); (3-5% FAAB)
  8. Jacksonville Jaguars DST (57% Yahoo ownership); (3-5% FAAB)
  9. Derrick Henry, RB, Tennessee Titans (54% Yahoo ownership); (3-5% FAAB)

In the fantasy football playoffs, Dak Prescott has home dates against the Eagles and Bucs (two of the worst passing defenses in the NFL), and a road date in Indy against Andrew Luck‘s high powered offense. As the Boys look secure the NFC East division title crown, Dak and company will be firing on all cylinders Weeks 14-16…Adam Humphries has scored 5 touchdowns in his past 5 games, and has recorded at least 50 receiving yards in 6 straight. With Tampa’s running game taking a back seat, there will be plenty of targets for Humphries to remain a weekly WR3 / Flex option…Usually I do not waste time suggesting FAABing defenses, but the Jacksonville Jaguars DST just shut out one of the hottest teams in football (Indy), and face Tennessee (28th in points per game), Washington (27th), and Miami (25th) during the fantasy playoffs.

  • There are many myths about RedSocker45. Is he, in fact, Pedro Martinez? Is he a mathematician gone rogue? Does he have magical powers equal to Gandalf The White? In actuality, he is a normal dude that grew up in the North End of Boston and he loves being Italian, eating delicious food and the Red Sox, Patriots, Bruins and Celtics. Myth, busted.
