Eric Ebron Shoots Back to the Fantasy Moon After Jack Doyle is Placed on IR

The Beanstalk being done for the year only means one thing...

He’s baaaaack. Although Eric Ebron is coming off a two touchdown performance against the Dolphins, he was a volatile fantasy stock with Jack ‘The Beanstalk’ Doyle back in the lineup. Now that Doyle has unfortunately been put on the shelf for the remainder of the season with some sort of kidney injury, it’s once again Ebron’s time to shine. Ebron goes from a touchdown-dependent fantasy option, to one of Andrew Luck’s prime targets. With Doyle out of the lineup, Ebron has averaged 10 targets a game. On the other hand, with Doyle in the lineup, Ebron was only seeing a measly 3.7 targets per game — highlighted by a disturbing 0-0-0 stat line in Week 11.

Eric Ebron was one of fantasy’s biggest bargains for a position that has absolutely sucked this year. He has fit Frank Reich’s two tight end scheme to perfection and made a bunch of noise out of the slot. Doyle’s absence will open up a barrage of red zone targets and we’ll no longer see the three target, two touchdown games out of Ebron. In fact, without Doyle in the lineup, Ebron saw a 22 percent target share (3rd most for TEs) and 28 percent of the team’s air yards (2nd most).

What makes Ebron even more enticing is his upcoming schedule… he gets the hapless Jags, followed by the Texans (6th worse vs tight ends), Cowboys (7th worse) and then the Giants. Roll him out there and expect a top-five fantasy tight end for the remainder of the season.
