Kareem Hunt Dominates Bengals, Cements Top-5 Overall Fantasy Football “Cheat Code” Value

Hello, Cheat Code. Kareem Hunt's usage remains steady in the league's most explosive attack, and should flourish in fantasy football.

On SNF versus the Bengals, Chiefs RB Kareem Hunt erupted for his best 2018 output yet, shredding Cincinnati for 141 total yards and 3 scores on 20 touches (5 catches). Since his Week 1 dud, Hunt has found the end zone at least once in every single contest while never dipping below 14.5 FPs and topping 25 in three of six contests.  He’s become the clear-cut highest used skill player in this unstoppable juggernaut, logging 18+ touches all but one time. Week 7 also marked his second straight game with 5+ receptions and at least 1 receiving score.

Simply put: Hunt is a high-end Individual Talent receiving heavy Usage amidst the league’s most explosive attack. Thus, he ranks alongside only Todd Gurley, Melvin Gordon, and Saquon Barkley as true Fantasy Cheat Codes.

In 2017, Hunt suffered from weird misusage and inexplicable disappearing acts, which had us lower on him entering the season. This year, however, despite the return of Spencer Ware, head coach Andy Reid seems to have wisened up, as Hunt’s usage is far more steady — especially in the Red Zone. In fact, Hunt’s 19 carries inside the 20 rank fifth in the league, as he continues to benefit from the constant scoring chances generated record-setting, stellar play of Patrick Mahomes. Boxes cannot be stacked, and Hunt is finding tons of space underneath with defenses accounting for all the vertical burners around them. While Reid could conceivably scale back Hunt’s workload without rhyme or reason, this offense seems to be far too in-tune for such a move. Hunt slides into the Top Four of my Season Long Big Board.
