Former New England Patriots TE Aaron Hernandez Found Dead in Prison Cell

The Aaron Hernandez saga came to an end on Wednesday morning.

The tragic and sad saga of Aaron Hernandez‘s life has came to an abrupt end, as the former Patriots tight end was found dead in his prison cell at the Souza Baranowski Correctional Center in Shirley, Mass., at approximately 3:05 a.m.

“Mr. Hernandez was in a single cell in a general population unit,” the statement said. “Mr. Hernandez hanged himself utilizing a bedsheet that he attached to his cell window. Mr. Hernandez also attempted to block his door from the inside by jamming the door with various items.”

Although Aaron Hernandez, 27, was still serving a life sentence for murdering Odin Lloyd in 2013, the former Patriots tight end was acquitted just five days ago for a double murder in 2012.

Just Tuesday, Hernandez’s trial lawyer Jose Baez seemed confident in a potential appeal for Hernandez’s life sentence.

Hernandez’s death falls on the same day where his former team, the New England Patriots, will be visiting the White House for their Super Bowl 51 victory.

“We are aware of the reports, but I don’t anticipate that we will be commenting today,” a Patriots spokesman told ESPN Wednesday morning.
