NFL Playoffs Fantasy Football 2017: Wildcard Weekend Recap

Recapping all the relevant Fantasy Football Playoff stats and action from a high-scoring Wildcard Weekend, with a look ahead to future games.

Wildcard weekend ended up being just as exciting as week 17, except after these games people went home. The highlight of my Saturday was wiping the dried up drool off my cheek. With that being said, let’s dive into the fantasy stats and major takeaways that you might have drifted off – like me – and missed:

Oakland Raiders @ Houston Texans

 Texans 27 Raiders 14

Fantasy Stats for Relevant Texans:

  • Brock Osweiler – 14/25 for 168 yards, 1 TD and 6 rushes for 15 yards, 1 TD, Fumble – 17.22 fantasy points with 4 pt passing touchdowns;  19.22 fantasy points with 6 pt passing touchdowns
  • Lamar Miller – 31 carries for 73 yards, 1 TD – 13.3 fantasy points in standard, half ppr, and full ppr
  • DeAndre Hopkins – 5 receptions for 67 yards, 1 TD – 12.7 fantasy points in standard, 15.2 in half ppr, 17.7 in full ppr
  • C.J Fiedorowicz – 2 receptions for 35 yards – 3.5 fantasy points in standard, 4.5 in half ppr, 5.5 full ppr

Fantasy Stats for Relevant Raiders:

  • Connor Cook – 18/45 for 161 yards, 1 TD and 3 interceptions – 4.44 fantasy points with 4 pt passing touchdowns;  6.44 fantasy points with 6 pt passing touchdowns
  • Latavius Murray – 12 carries for 39 yards, 1 TD and 1 reception for 12 yards – 11.1 fantasy points in standard, 11.6 in half ppr, 12.1 in full ppr
  • DeAndre Washington – 4 carries for 16 yards – 1.6 fantasy points in standard, half ppr, and full ppr
  • Amari Cooper2 receptions for 10 yards – 1 fantasy points in standard, 2 in half ppr, 3 in full ppr
  • Michael Crabtree – 2 receptions for 33 yards – 3.3 fantasy points in standard, 4.3 in half ppr, 5.5 full ppr

If you like terrible offense and poor quarterback play, this was the game for you! The Raiders, still ailing from the loss of star quarterback Derek Carr, had third-stringer Connor Cook looming as the only starting option. Even with Brock Osweiler on the opposing side, it’s hard to win in that situation against the No. 1 ranked defense in the regular season. Although, I’ll give it to Osweiler for finally hooking up with star wideout DeAndre Hopkins for the first time in five weeks.

Moving forward from this game — cause who wants to look back at it — the Houston Texas are going up against the No. 1 seed New England Patriots and lets just say the odds are against them. The Pats already shut them out earlier this year and I honestly can’t see any scenario where the Texans come out on top.

Detroit Lions @ Seattle Seahawks

Seahawks 26 Lions 6

Fantasy Stats for Relevant Lions:

  • Matthew Stafford – 18/32 for 205 yards, 0 TDs and 3 rushes for 15 yards – 9.7 fantasy points with 4 pt passing touchdowns;  9.7 fantasy points with 6 pt passing touchdowns
  • Zach Zenner – 11 carries for 34 yards, 6 reception for 54 yards – 8.8 fantasy points in standard, 11.8 in half ppr, 14.8 in full ppr
  • Golden Tate – 3 receptions for 25 yards – 2.5 fantasy points in standard, 4 in half ppr, 5.5 in full ppr
  • Eric Ebron – 2 receptions for 23 yards – 2.3 fantasy points in standard, 3.3 in half ppr, 4.3 in full ppr

Fantasy Stats for Relevant Seahawks:

  • Russell Wilson – 23/30 for 224 yards, 2 TDs and 3 rushes for -3 yards – 16.66 fantasy points with 4 pt passing touchdowns;  20.66 fantasy points with 6 pt passing touchdowns
  • Thomas Rawls – 27 carries for 161 yards, 1 TD and 1 reception for 1 yard – 22.2 fantasy points in standard, 22.7 in half ppr, 23.2 in full ppr
  • Doug Baldwin – 11 receptions for 104 yards, 1 TD – 16.4 fantasy points in standard, 21.9 in half ppr, 27.4 in full ppr
  • Jimmy Graham – 3 receptions for 37 yards – 3.7 fantasy points in standard, 5.2 in half ppr, 6.7 in full ppr

If you had a Seahawk, you’re probably pretty happy after Saturday’s performance. The Lions looked sluggish and unfortunately Matthew Stafford hasn’t been the same after tearing the ligament in his middle finger.

Next weekend, the Seahawks will travel to Atlanta to take on the Falcons and with Thomas Rawls just having a break-out game and Atalanta’s atrocious run defense, he could go for another big yard performance. Expect a high scoring game!

Miami Dolphins @ Pittsburgh Steelers

Steelers 30 Dolphins 12

Fantasy Stats for Relevant Dolphins:

  • Matt Moore – 29/36 for 289 yards, 1 TD and 1 interception, 1 rush for 2 yards, 2 fumbles – 9.76 fantasy points with 4 pt passing touchdowns;  11.76 fantasy points with 6 pt passing touchdowns
  • Jay Ajayi – 16 carries for 33 yards, 3 reception for 12 yards – 4.5 fantasy points in standard, 6 in half ppr, 7.5 in full ppr
  • Jarvis Landry – 11 receptions for 102 yards – 10.2 fantasy points in Standard, 15.7 in half ppr, 21.2 in full ppr
  • DeVante Parker – 4 receptions for 55 yards – 5.5 fantasy points in standard, 7.5 in half ppr, 9.5 in full ppr
  • Kenny Stills – 5 receptions for 82 yards – 8.2 fantasy points in standard, 10.7 in half ppr, 13.2 in full ppr

Fantasy Stats for Relevant Steelers:

  • Ben Roethlisberger – 13/18 for 197 yards, 2 TDs and 2 interceptions, 4 rushes for 10 yards –  14.88 fantasy points with 4 pt passing touchdowns;  18.88 fantasy points with 6 pt passing touchdowns
  • Le’Veon Bell – 29 carries for 167 yards, 2 TDs and 2 reception for 7 yards – 29.4 Fantasy Points in standard, 30.4 in half ppr, 31.4 in full ppr
  • Antonio Brown – 5 receptions for 124 yards, 2 TDs – 24.4 fantasy points in standard, 26.9 in half ppr, 29.4 in full ppr

This game was over faster than it took everyone to figure out Brock Osweiler was the worst quarterback in the league. Two quick touchdowns to Antonio Brown in the first quarter left the ball in Le’Veon Bell’s hands and the Dolphins’ defensive front had no answer for the shifty back. The big three from Pittsburgh demolished the Fins in almost every way.

Now the Steelers will face off against the Kansas City Chiefs and it should be a good one! Kansas City has a solid defense and a lack-luster offense and this is one of the games that will always be used as a “defense is better,” “offense is better” game.

New York Giants @ Green Bay Packers

Packers 38 Giants 13

Fantasy Stats for Relevant Giants:

  • Eli Manning – 23/44 for 299 yards, 1 TD and 1 interception, 1 rushes for 11 yards, fumble – 13.06 fantasy points with 4 pt passing touchdowns; 15.06 fantasy points with 6 pt passing touchdowns
  • Paul Perkins – 10 carries for 30 yards, 3 reception for 27 yards – 5.7 fantasy points in standard, 7.2 in half ppr, 8.7 in full ppr
  • Rashad Jennings – 5 carries for 29 yards, 1 reception for 4 yards – 3.3 fantasy points in standard, 3.8 in half ppr, 4.3 in full ppr
  • Odell Beckham Jr. – 4 receptions for 28 yards – 2.8 fantasy points in standard, 4.8 in half ppr, 6.8 in full ppr

Fantasy Stats for Relevant Packers:

  • Aaron Rodgers – 25/40 for 362 yards, 4 TDs – 30.48 fantasy points with 4 pt passing touchdowns;  38.48 fantasy points with 6 pt passing touchdowns
  • Ty Montgomery (Injured) – 11 carries for 27 yards, 3 reception for 41 yards – 6.8 fantasy points in standard, 8.3 in half ppr, 9.8 in full ppr
  • Jordy Nelson (Injured) – 1 receptions for 13 yards – 1.3 fantasy points in standard, 1.8 in half ppr, 2.3 in full ppr
  • DeVante Adams – 8 receptions for 125 yards, 1 TD – 18.5 fantasy points in standard, 22.5 in half ppr, 26.5 in full ppr
  • Randall Cobb – 5 receptions for 116 yards, 3 TDs – 29.6 fantasy points in standard, 32.1 in half ppr, 34.6 in full ppr

I can’t believe I thought this was going to be the best game of the weekend, and I can’t even blame Eli Manning! Eli only had one interception which for his standards, is solid, but he wasn’t helped up as Odell Beckham Jr. had three drops — one in the end zone and one that would have moved the chains on third down.

If you had any Packer that wasn’t Jordy Nelson and Ty Montgomery on your fantasy playoff team, you’re probably a happy camper. If those two were rostered by you; however, the outcome was grim. Nelson took a shot to the ribs in the second and wasn’t able to return, and Ty looked to suffer a knee injury and couldn’t come back as well.

Green Bay set up another matchup against Dez Bryant and the Dallas Cowboys. It’s hard to bet against the Packers at this point but the Cowboys in Jerry’s World will present a big challenge. Let’s just hope these refs know what a catch is.
