Fantasy Football Stock Report: Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott heading for 300 carries?

Every morning we compile the most important fantasy football links of the day for you to stay up-to-date and ahead of your fantasy opponents… This is your number one place for beat writer blabber, injury news, transaction tracking, and fantasy analysis from the experts who taught us a thing or two.

“I think Zeke will finish with roughly 280-300 carries, which would put him right around 18-20 per game. That should leave plenty of carries for Morris and McFadden to get involved.”

– David Helman – Dallascowboys.com

This snippet will have fantasy owners and CJay salivating for months to come. Last year, Adrian Peterson led the NFL in carries with 327. The second closest was Doug Martin at 288. Behind the undisputed #1 offensive line in the NFL, 300 carries seems very reasonable for a young and fresh Elliott ready to make an impact in the league. Zeke has been talked about as a top 10 pick all summer since being drafted, so this continuance of good news should only move him up draft boards.

“Amari Cooper received praise for his performance during the Raiders offseason program. It was deserved. The second-year receiver was excellent in practices open to the press, working in precision with quarterback Derek Carr.”

– Scott Bair – CSNBayArea.com

Cooper appears to be putting in some good work at OTA’s and people are noticing. The second year receiver is looking to build on his impressive rookie season and all signs point towards an increase in production. As Derek Carr and Cooper continue to build a rapport and strengthen that chemistry, the duo will become that much more lethal. Cooper’s ability to stretch the field, paired with Carr’s big arm are a fantasy owner’s match made in heaven.

Patriots receiver Danny Amendola appears to be doing well after some offseason surgeries. Amendola also took a second consecutive pay cut, which makes me love the guy even more than I already did. Amendola has shown the ability to put up big numbers as he did when Edelman and Gronkowski both missed time with injuries. However, with those two healthy and on the field, his targets drop significantly as Brady loves to throw to his two stars. He has come up clutch numerous times for New England and I think he’s worthy of a late round flier.

Not strictly fantasy:

  • Doug Baldwin locked up a new contract extension with the Seahawks
  • Former Heisman trophy runner up Andre Williams is battling to secure a roster spot with the Giants. Quite the turn of events.
  • Cordarrelle Patterson vows to “work harder” this season. Probably something you should be doing every year when your job is to play football. Stay FAR FAR AWAY
  • NFL legend Buddy Ryan tragically passed away at the age of 82. RIP
